VOLUNTEER TERMS & CONDITIONS
ALTAI BLUE HORIZON

1. TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Volunteers are responsible for their own travel arrangements, including flights, visas, and transportation to the volunteer site.
- Altai Blue Horizon does not book flights or provide financial support for travel expenses but offers guidance and recommendations.
- In case of delays, cancellations, or visa rejections, volunteers must make alternative arrangements at their own cost.
2. LEGAL & ADMINISTRATIVE COMPLIANCE
- Volunteers must ensure they meet all visa and entry requirements for Mongolia and carry the necessary travel documents.
- Volunteers must comply with all local laws and regulations, including customs, cultural norms, and national policies.
- Any legal violations or misconduct may result in the volunteer being dismissed from the programme without refund or compensation.
3. LIABILITY DISCLAIMER
- Volunteers participate at their own risk.
- Altai Blue Horizon, its partners, and host families are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, lost property, theft, illness, or other incidents during the volunteer programme.
- Volunteers are required to sign a liability waiver before starting the programme.
4. HEALTH & MEDICAL PREPARATIONS
- Volunteers must have valid health and travel insurance covering medical emergencies, accidents, and evacuation if needed.
- Altai Blue Horizon is not responsible for medical expenses, treatments, or hospitalizations.
- Volunteers should bring any necessary medication and ensure they are vaccinated as required for Mongolia.
5. CODE OF CONDUCT & BEHAVIOUR EXPECTATIONS
- Volunteers must treat local communities, fellow volunteers, and staff with respect, cultural sensitivity, and courtesy.
- Any form of harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behaviour (physical, verbal, or online) will result in immediate dismissal from the programme.
- Volunteers must follow ethical guidelines, including a child protection policy, ensuring appropriate behaviour when working with children.
6. ACCOMMODATION & MEALS
- Volunteers will stay with local host families or in school facilities, depending on availability.
- Accommodation and meals are provided free of charge, but volunteers must respect house rules and cultural expectations.
- Smoking, alcohol consumption, or drug use is strictly prohibited in host families and programme areas.
7. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & REFUND POLICY
- Volunteers are responsible for personal expenses, additional travel, and personal purchases.
- If a volunteer withdraws from the programme, no refunds will be given for any costs incurred by the NGO (e.g., pre-arranged accommodation, local transport, etc.).
- Any optional paid services (e.g., excursions, transport upgrades) will follow a clear refund policy, which will be provided upon booking.
8. FORCE MAJEURE & PROGRAMME CHANGES
- Altai Blue Horizon reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or modify the programme due to unforeseen circumstances such as:
- Natural disasters, extreme weather, or pandemics
- Political instability, conflicts, or legal restrictions
- Health and safety risks beyond the NGO’s control
- If the programme is cancelled due to force majeure, Altai Blue Horizon will not be responsible for reimbursing travel or other personal costs.
9. CHILD PROTECTION POLICY & WORKING WITH CHILDREN
- Volunteers working with children or vulnerable groups must undergo a criminal background check.
- Volunteers must always follow appropriate boundaries and ethical conduct when working with children.
- Photography & social media sharing: Volunteers must not share pictures of children without prior consent from Altai Blue Horizon and the local school.
10. HOST FAMILY & LOCAL SUPPORT
- Volunteers must respect the rules, customs, and lifestyle of host families.
- Any issues with accommodation should be reported to Altai Blue Horizon immediately, and we will work on a solution.
- Host families are not financially compensated for hosting international volunteers.
11. DATA PROTECTION & PRIVACY POLICY
- Personal data collected during the application process will be stored securely and used only for volunteer coordination purposes.
- Altai Blue Horizon does not share volunteer data with third parties without consent.
- Volunteers have the right to request access, correction, or deletion of their personal data at any time.
12. APPLICATION & SELECTION PROCESS
- Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the programme.
- Selected volunteers must confirm participation within the deadline provided.
- If a volunteer fails to attend orientation or violates terms, their place may be revoked without further notice.
13. HOW TO APPLY
To join Altai Blue Horizon’s volunteer programme, applicants must:
- Complete the online application form with their details and availability.
- Attach a CV and cover letter outlining their motivation.
- Undergo an interview if shortlisted.
- Submit a criminal background check (if required).
- Sign the Terms & Conditions agreement before arrival.

By applying for the Altai Blue Horizon Volunteer Programme, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agreed to abide by these Terms & Conditions.
